The Atlanta Thrashers signed unrestricted free- agent defenseman Joel Kwiatkowski on Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 30-year-old spent the majority of last season with Florida, picking up five goals and five assists in 41 games. He was acquired by the Penguins on February 27 for a fourth-round draft choice in this year's draft, and skated in one game without registering a point.
A native of Saskatchewan, Kwiatkowski was an eighth-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 1996 draft and has accrued 16 goals, 40 points and 225 penalty minutes in 264 career games with the Senators, Capitals, Panthers and Penguins.
